Best Restaurants Throughout Austin

Austin has a reputation for being hip, and some of that has to do with the city's food scene. From gourmet restaurants to food trucks, you'll find a little bit of everything throughout the city when it comes to food, and we wouldn't have it any other way. Truthfully, you could eat somewhere new every night of the year and have a great meal, so it's hard to narrow down the best Austin restaurants. Asian fusion? Farm to table? Barbecue? Breakfast tacos? We've got it all and a little bit more. Here is a list of some local favorites:  

1. Salty Sow 

Located on Manor Road in East Austin, Salty Sow is an American gastropub that serves " contemporary farmhouse fare" and hand-crafted cocktails, all of which are sourced locally. The menu features modern takes on classic dishes, like truffle deviled eggs, bbq hominy, candied pork belly, and bananas foster beignets. Despite the sophisticated menu and atmosphere, the restaurant is known for its affordable prices. 

2.  Ramen Tatsu-Ya 

Looking for the best restaurants in North Austin for ramen? Look no further than Ramen Tatsu-Ya. The eatery has actually four locations across the city, including one in North Austin, East Austin, South Austin, and in the Oaks at Slaughter shopping center. Each location also offers sleek decor, and some have outdoor seating.  

3. Patrizi's

Patrizi's has been an Austin institution since 1948, and today, its food truck outside the Vortex theater is a beloved spot for old-school Italian food. Enjoy a variety of hand-made pasta dishes, along with salads and small plates. Everything is made fresh daily.  

4. Truluck's Downtown 

Truluck's Downtown is located in the Warehouse District at 4th and Colorado Streets near the state capital, and it's considered one of the best restaurants in Downtown Austin. It's an upscale surf and turf restaurant that's perfect for a date night or to start — or finish — a night out on the town.  It's also a great spot for big events ranging from marriage proposals to prom night dinners. Enjoy a delicious steak on the second floor with its all-glass walls that overlook the city.  

5. Perlas 

Perlas is a seafood restaurant that looks like it should be sitting on a beach in New England rather than on Austin's South Congress Avenue. The chic eatery is known for its patio scene, fresh oysters, and laid-back atmosphere. Be sure to have one of the restaurant's delicious cocktails with your surf and turf.  

6. The Salt Lick BBQ 

The Salt Lick BBQ is actually just outside of Austin in the town of Driftwood, but it's well worth a little extra drive to dine here. Some say it's home to the best BBQ in Texas, and the restaurant has nearly 14,000 mostly positive reviews on Google to prove it. Enjoy your typical barbecue fare, like sandwiches, plates, brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and some delicious homemade desserts. 

7. Launderette 

Located in Holly, the Launderette is one of the best restaurants in East Austin, and what's so charming about this cool little cafe is that it literally used to be a laundromat. While you might expect dinner when you walk into the restaurant, you'll be surprised to see that the menu is a bit more elevated with dishes like charred octopus, branzino, and a plancha burger. 

8.  Banger's Sausage House and Beer Garden

Banger's Sausage House and Beer Garden isn't just one of the best restaurants in Austin, it's an experience. Enjoy a menu filled with a variety of sausages and sides, as well as some of the best beer in the city.
